President Donald Trump is hosting a reception at the White House Wednesday afternoon, in honor of Black History Month.

President Trump issued a proclamation recognizing Black History Month on Feb. 3. The proclamation begins:

This year, we celebrate the most significant milestone in our Nation’s history:  250 glorious years of American independence.  From the very beginning, our country has been blessed with countless black American heroes.  For more than two and a half centuries, these legends have made timeless contributions to our government, laws, military, economy, workforce, and culture.  With their tremendous legacy in mind, as President, I proclaim that “black history” is not distinct from American history — rather, the history of black Americans is an indispensable chapter in our grand American story.

The White House event is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Trump is expected to honor civil rights icon Jesse Jackson at the event. Jackson, 84, passed away on Tuesday, and was a friend of Trump’s before he ever ran for political office.

Conservative speaker and author Angela Stanton-King announced in a post on X:

Today we celebrate Black History at the White House. And for me, it’s also the 5-year anniversary of my Presidential Pardon from @POTUS. This is what redemption looks like. Five years later, and my life has expanded in every way, my career, my reach, my purpose.

From conviction to clemency.
From record to restoration.
From setback to strength.

And tomorrow? We celebrate my birthday.Black History. Redemption. Another year around the sun. I couldn’t be happier. Let’s get it. 🇺🇸✨

T.W. Shannon, the former Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives who is currently running for Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma, announced earlier this month that he had received an invitation to the Black History Month reception at the White House.

Conservative commentator and Iraq war vet Rob Smith shared a video ahead of the event, and wrote, “The Black History Month event at the White House will begin soon! The line is FULL of Black patriots who support President Donald Trump! While mainstream media LIES about Trump’s support among Black Americans – this is the TRUTH!”

Several Black Trump supporters are lamenting that they didn’t receive an invitation to the event.

Smith explained, “Ballroom construction at the White House has cut capacity for ALL events to roughly 60% of usual, including the Black History Month event. No drama, no BS, it’s simply a space issue. The hard work of everyone in the movement is seen and appreciated!”

During a White House press briefing earlier on Wednesday, CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe brazenly asked, “Where or when does the President believe he’s been falsely called a racist?”

A stunned Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt first asked if he was kidding, then retorted:

“I will pull you a plethora of examples. I’m going to get my team in that room to start going through the internet of radical Democrats throughout the years, Ed, who have accused this president falsely of being a racist on ensure there’s many people in this room and on network television across the country who have accused him of the same.”

“In fact, I know that because I’ve seen it with my own eyes. The President very much looks forward to having an event later this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to celebrate Black History Month and talk about how his policies are advancing opportunity and prosperity for all Americans through record tax cuts, through the Trump Accounts that all Americans can access, regardless of race.”

“There’s a lot this President has done for all Americans regardless of race and he has absolutely been falsely called and smeared as a racist and I am happy to provide you those receipts and we gladly will right after this briefing.”
