During her very first press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt shared a statement from President Donald Trump on the mysterious drones that had buzzed over New Jersey in November and December, freaking out local residents.
The Biden administration had claimed there was no national security threat, but failed to ease the growing concern from the public or give a reasonable explanation for the sudden increase in all the drones buzzing in the sky every night.
The drones were spotted flying over Trump’s Bedminster, New Jersey golf course, and near multiple military sites, including Picatinny Arsenal, Naval Weapons Station Earle, Fort Hamilton, Fort Monmouth, and Naval Station Newport.
Leavitt read the following statement from President Trump:
“After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational, and private individuals that enjoy flying drones. In time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy.”
The statement still does not explain what ‘various other reasons’ means.

During a press briefing from Mar-a-Lago in December a month prior to his inauguration, Trump was asked about the drones, and said he didn’t know why the Biden administration wouldn’t just tell people what they were.
“The government knows what is happening,” Trump declared, adding, “Our military know where they took off from… and for some reason they don’t want to comment. I think they’d be better off saying what it is. Our military knows and our president knows, and for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense.”
“Something strange is going on and for some reason they don’t want to tell the people,” he said.
