Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, a Democrat, finally returned to Los Angeles on Wednesday to address the fires that are burning parts of her city to the ground.
Bass faced massive backlash for jetting off to Africa to attend the Ghana president’s inauguration, while the city burned.
It has also been pointed out that Bass reduced the Los Angeles Fire Department’s budget by a shopping $17.6 million this financial year – and initially tried to cut it by $23 million.
Sky News reporter David Blevins cornered Bass Wednesday afternoon over the controversies.
“Do you owe citizens an apology for being absent whilst their homes were burning? Do you regret cutting the fire department’s budget?” Blevins asked.
Bass stood there and hung her head, not saying a word.
“Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?” Blevins prodded. “Elon Musk says you’re utterly incompetent. Are you considering your position?”
Still, not a single word in response.
