Kamala Harris not only became the first presidential candidate in 40 years to skip out on the annual Alfred Smith Catholic charity dinner Thursday night, but she sent in a video message instead which literally mocked Catholics.

Harris claimed her absence was due to a scheduling conflict, as she had to attend a campaign event in Wisconsin instead.

But by failing to attend the dinner, Harris was brutally mocked, and her video message is being described as “cringeworthy” and “historically bad.”

Comedian Jim Gaffigan, the emcee of the charity event, took several digs at Harris during the dinner.

“I’m sorry. Why is Vice President Harris not here?” he asked. “I mean, consider this. This is a room full of Catholics and Jews in New York City. This is a layup for the Democratic nominee. I mean, in her defense, I mean, she did find time to appear on “The View,” Howard Stern, Colbert and the long time staple of campaigning, the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. You know what I think it is? I think she doesn’t like me.”

In an EPIC roast of Harris, Gaffigan said, “Democrats have been telling us that Trump’s reelection is a threat to democracy. In fact, they were so concerned about this threat that they staged a coup, ousted their democratically elected leader, and installed Kamala Harris. In other words, all of her dreams have come true.”

“It really makes you consider the power of prayer…. sometimes prayers take 3 1/2 years and a George Clooney op-ed,” he quipped.

But Harris was not only roasted for skipping the event… she was also torched over the “cringeworthy” video skit she sent instead.

Fox News described Harris’ video skit which was played at the dinner:

Harris recorded a video that was aired during the dinner, in which she was joined by comedian and actress Molly Shannon. During Shannon’s days as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” she played a Catholic student named Mary Katherine Gallgher, a role she reprised for the video.

“So tell me something, I’m giving a speech. Do you have some thoughts about what I might say tonight?” Harris asked Shannon.

After Harris’ video skit was played on the screen, it was met with mild applause, and some boos.

Gaffigan mocked, “I don’t even know what that noise you’re making is…. as I watched that, I couldn’t help but think that now I know how my kids felt when I FaceTimed into a piano recital they were at.”

The video skit Harris had played at the dinner is being met with widespread mockery and disgust by conservatives:

Conservative host Matt Walsh slammed Harris’ video message, writing, “This skit is an act of treason against comedy. It’s the worst thing any political candidate has ever done. Kamala should be thrown in jail for this.”

“Why did Kamala just purposely offend every Catholic in the United States?” asked Dr. Taylor Marshall.

From Gregory LaRue: “Personally the pre filmed “skit” with Molly Shannon at the Al Smith dinner was absolutely the stupidest thing I have ever seen, and I have seen some stupid stuff in my 60 years. Kamala could not bother to show up (probably worried lighting would strike). Just more proof she could not even ad lib an event like this. There is NO WAY this person can be the Commander in Chief of our great country, NO WAY.”

From Gerry Callahan: “It’s truly incredible that Kamala blew off the Al Smith dinner. It was exactly what she needed: a chance to appear human, natural, normal. She could read a script, make some jokes, laugh. No tough questions. Instead she mailed in a horrible, recorded skit with an old SNL actor. And Trump crushed it. The ultimate unforced error by the worst candidate in American political history.”

And the backlash continues….
