Journalist Julie Kelly of Real Clear Investigations posted an account on social media Tuesday evening about a D.C. police officer involved in the January 6, 2021 protest at the U.S. Capitol.

Kelly wrote:

Meet Dan Hodges, one of the J6 celebrity cops. In never-before publicly posted footage from Hodges’ body camera, Hodges is seen randomly assaulting J6 protesters outside the Capitol at 2pm.

This is about 40 minutes after DC Metro and Capitol Police launched their first assaults on the crowd gathered on Capitol grounds. Police improperly used “non-lethal” munitions including stun grenades, rubber bullets, pepper balls, and tear gas on peacefully assembled protesters, which enraged the crowd.

Hodges and other DC Metro officers arrived in head-to-toe riot gear ready for a fight. Listen to the reaction from Trump supporters who had already witnessed one fatality and several injuries at the hands of police.

Some called them “storm troopers” and “traitors.”

It is necessary to understand the widespread use of excessive (and unnecessary) force by police officers that afternoon that in many cases led to physical clashes between cops and protesters.

UPDATE: Kelly announced Wednesday afternoon, “In less than 24 hours this post has 1.2 million views and counting. The reason why it’s imperative to share this type of video is so the public is fully informed about what really happened on Jan 6 and how police misconduct led to physical clashes with protesters.”

You may recall Hodges July 2021 sworn testimony before J6 committee where he misrepresented his conduct on Jan 6 (as did the other police witnesses) and referred to protesters as “terrorists.”

Turns out he was doing the terrorizing.

Shortly after arriving on the scene dressed like a stormtrooper, Hodges continues to randomly use his baton and body to assault protesters including women.

Hodges was a witness in the Colorado lawsuit seeking to remove Trump from the ballot under the “insurrection” 14A Sec 3 of the Constitution.

Here’s his testimony:

Police continued to agitate the crowd, using bike racks not as a gate but a weapon. CCTV video from atop the Capitol shows a peaceful and growing crowd arriving after Trump’s speech on the west sides. The Capitol was about to be evacuated at this time stamp.

There was no need to use the racks to further shove people STANDING ON PUBLIC PROPERTY COMMITTING NO CRIME away from the building except to bully them and inflame the situation. Which they did.

Had this been any other protest or any other group of demonstrators besides Trump supporters, lawsuits and firings would be ongoing.

Wednesday morning, Kelly published more….

More from Dan Hodges (@SemperWry) body cam. Hodges called J6ers “terrorists” during his televised (and under oath) testimony before J6 committee. He testified about suffering extensive injuries as a “victim” and witness during J6 trials.

He like other celeb cops won Congressional and presidential awards for Jan 6. And for this:

The woman begging for police to stop assaulting protesters clearly suffers the effects of tear gas, which police had deployed for over an hour at this point. She calling out for a cop to stop attacking a woman on the upper terrace on west side.

But Danny got his prize:

Even as police—which here and in other footage shows a total lack of coordination and competence—attack protesters, they continue to express their longstanding support of the police.

Karen Jones, one person in the crowd, replied, “I am on tape in multiple situations that day reminding people I back the blue. I was shocked when I was attacked without provocation, but I never struck back. I protected my head and tried my best to get out of the trap that was set.”

Hodges, who is very active on social media, defiantly declared in one post earlier this month, “My colleagues and I literally risked our lives – some dying from the fight – to stop a white nationalist coup and people still think we didn’t shoot because most of the terrorists were white.”

In another series of posts on X, Hodges listed multiple reasons why he didn’t open fire on the crowd. One reason was due to fear that his gun would be taken from him and then used on him.

Hodges mockingly responded to Kelly’s video releases, writing, “…that’s it? That’s your big takedown piece? Two minutes from my BWC where we were attacked? Saying I “randomly assaulted” someone and then attaching video where I don’t assault anyone is, well… My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle.”

Kelly retorted, “No. We have a lot more. That doesn’t include perjury charges.”
