Vice President JD Vance and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy walked out of the White House to speak to reporters Thursday afternoon, accompanied by a bipartisan group of transportation and airline industry leaders who are all demanding an end to the government shutdown.

Vance just spoke in Mississippi Wednesday night at a Turning Point USA event. He then traveled back to Washington, D.C., and held a round table meeting at the White House with the group, which included Airlines for America CEO, Teamsters union president Sean O’Brien, United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby, former New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu and others.

The group consisted of both Republicans and Democrats, who are all united on one position: that senate Democrats must join Republicans in passing a clean continuing resolution to get the government opened and paychecks rolling, and then negotiate other issues separately.

“Everybody here is very worried that we’re going to see more delays, more stresses on the people who are actually making the aviation system run. Open the government! Stop this craziness, and open the government!” Vance declared.

O’Brien stepped up and demanded, “Pass a clean CR, get to the table… do not put working people in the middle of a problem they should not be in… security and safety of the airlines is paramount. Let’s not compromise the safety and security — pass a clean CR.”

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby warned, “It’s putting stress on people, it’s not fair to those people, it’s also putting stress on the economy… it’s been 30 days… I also think it is time to pass a clean CR.”

Sec. Duffy warned, “A lot of our [air travel workers] can go through the miss of one paycheck — and it’s hard for them… NONE of them can get through two paychecks. If Democrats don’t get their act together very quickly, you’re going to see huge problems.”

Reportedly, many liberal networks did not even air the briefing to their audiences.
