Speculation continues to swirl about who former President Donald Trump will choose as his 2024 running mate, but a social media post by his eldest son on Friday may be a clue.
Trump has repeatedly hinted that he may announce his VP choice at the Republican National Convention, which is scheduled to start on Monday, July 15, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
In an interview with “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” on Friday, Trump confirmed his VP short list includes GOP Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, JD Vance of Ohio, North Dakota GOP Gov. Doug Burgum and Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C. However, it is possible there are other contenders Trump is considering that were not named.
In what MAY be a potential clue, or perhaps just testing the waters, Donald Trump Jr. posted a video on social media Friday afternoon of Sen. J.D. Vance.
“Who is @JDVance1? Watch this from his Senate campaign launch 🇺🇸,” Trump Jr. wrote, without offering any other explanation.

It is not going over well. Many conservatives are responding to the post by saying they hope Vance is NOT chosen as VP, with several posting reminders that Vance was once a “never-Trumper.”
“If it’s JD Vance I’m afraid that Trump just took a step back for me,” one X user wrote.
“Folks, it’s Vance. Trump really is this stupid,” another person lamented.
“OMG it looks like Trump is going to pick flip flopper @JDVance1 as his VP pick! It’s not going to help is campaign however not ensure its defeat,” yet another person wrote.
“Bruuuuh please do not let your dad pick Vance as VP,” wrote Tim.
Ben Carson and Vivek Ramaswamy are being suggested by many as preferred choices for Trump’s running mate.
I still think your dad needs to pick somebody he can fully trust and to me that’s either @VivekGRamaswamy or @RealBenCarson 100%. Guys that talked about your father so badly in the past, it’s just hard for me to get on board with them fully. I know people say things in the past…
