From Politico: Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard warned of a “nuclear holocaust” and chastised “warmongers” for bringing the world “closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before” in a foreboding video posted to social media on Tuesday.

In the three-minute video, Gabbard details a recent visit to Hiroshima, Japan to learn more about the aftermath of the U.S. nuclear attack on the city in 1945 during World War II. The video features footage of Gabbard’s trip and archival footage showing victims, interspersed with Gabbard speaking directly to camera about the consequences of a nuclear attack.

Gabbard then warns that, because today’s nuclear weapons are stronger than the one used by the U.S. in 1945, “a single nuclear weapon today could kill millions in just minutes.”

Gabbard, 44, a former Democrat, ran for president in 2020 as a Democrat, but switched to the Republican Party in 2024. She is a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, was deployed to Iraq from 2004-2005, and has previously served in both the Hawaii state congress and the U.S. Congress.

In the video, Gabbard warns, “This is the reality of what’s at stake, what we are facing now. Because as we stand here today, closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before, political elite warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers.”

“It’s up to us, the people, to speak up and demand an end to this madness. We must reject this path to nuclear war and work toward a world where no one has to live in fear of a nuclear holocaust,” she added.

“I recently visited Hiroshima, and stood at the epicenter of a city scarred by the unimaginable horror caused by a single nuclear bomb dropped in 1945. What I saw, the stories I heard, and the haunting sadness that remains, will stay with me forever,” Gabbard wrote, sharing the video on X.

Xi Van Fleet, who grew up in communist China and constantly warns about the dangers of communism, wrote, “Thank God the U.S. dropped the two atomic bombs—sparing countless American lives and potentially millions more in the countries occupied by Imperial Japan. Never forget that some 20 million Chinese were slaughtered by the Japanese!!!”

Many people misunderstand this video. This is not an apology for Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This is the head of the U.S. intelligence community informing the world that Iran will never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon. Use your discernment.
