Friday afternoon, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick was sworn into office in the Oval Office by vice president JD Vance.
Lutnick, 63, was confirmed by the Senate on Wednesday. He is the former chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC Group, and rebuilt Cantor Fitzgerald after 658 of his employees perished in the World Trade Center 9/11 attack.
Moments after Lutnick’s swearing-in ceremony, FBI Director Kash Patel was sworn into office by Attorney General Pam Bondi at the Eisenshower Executive Office Building.
Patel, 44, who is Indian American, is the first person of color to become FBI director. He was confirmed by the Senate on Thursday.
