During a roundtable discussion in Kerrville, Texas on Friday, First Lady Melania Trump spoke briefly and voiced her condolences and support to all the families who lost their children and loved ones in the devastating flash flood last week.
Mrs. Trump joined President Trump as they traveled to the area to view the damage from the flood and meet with first responders and families of the victims.
Officials announced in an update on Friday that at least 121 people have died from the July 4 flash floods, and over 170 are still missing.
“My deepest sympathy to all of the parents who lost beautiful young souls … We are grieving with you. Our nation is grieving with you,” the First Lady said in her heartfelt remarks.
She and the president had just met with many grieving parents and families members before they arrived to participate in the roundtable discussion with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and other local officials.
Melania showed those in the room a bracelet she was wearing, which she said some young ladies had given her from Camp Mystic, in honor of the dozens of little girls who were swept away to their death while attending the Christian girls’ camp.
She said she promised the victims’ families that she will return to meet with them again.
