From the Washington Examiner: A Democratic witness at a congressional hearing on abortion pills drew scrutiny from Republican senators on Wednesday for refusing to answer if men could get pregnant.
Dr. Nisha Verma, an OB-GYN and representative for Physicians for Reproductive Health, got tripped up by the question when asked by multiple GOP members of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee if biological males can get pregnant.
Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) first asked, “Ms. Verma, can men get pregnant?” Verma reacted by cooly informing Moody that she was DOCTOR Verma.
So Moody complied, asking again, “Dr. Verma, can men get pregnant? As a doctor, give me your opinion.”
Verma just sat there like a deer in the headlights without answering the question.

Then, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) tried, asking Verma, “Do you think men can get pregnant?”
Verma stammered around, saying she doesn’t understand the “goal of the question.”
“I take are of patients with different identities… I take care of many women…”
She continued to dodge the question over and over, insisting she doesn’t understand the goal of the question, and she takes care of patients with many different identities.
“Can men get pregnant?” Hawley pressed.
“I agree that science and evidence should guide medicine…” she stammered, adding, “I also think yes/no questions like this are a political tool.”
“No, yes/no questions are about the truth, doctor! Let’s not make a mockery about this proceeding!” Hawley fired back.
“You’re telling us that you’re a doctor and you follow the science and evidence,” Hawley declared.
“I think you’re trying to reduce the complexity of the….” Verma stammered.
“This isn’t hard, doctor. Can men get pregnant? Yes or no?” Hawley asked.
“I would be more than happy to have a conversation with you that is not coming from a place of trying to be polarizing…” the woman incredulously retorted.
Hawley finally lost his patience and exploded on the radical witness in a scorching rebuke.
