From the Daily Mail: A Democrat senator in Arizona was torched online after commenting on a young woman’s body and questioning her willingness to compete because she did not want to play against men.
Former Utah State volleyball captain Kaylie Ray, 23, stood before a committee that included Catherine Miranda, 61, on March 11 to defend the Protect Girls’ Sports in Arizona Act, only to be belittled by the liberal lawmaker.
Ray had previously competed and led a protest against San Jose State University’s (SJSU) volleyball team for fielding a biological male, Blaire Fleming. She recalled that experience as she respectfully addressed the panel of legislators.
Despite the volleyball star’s well-mannered support of the act Miranda rebutted with a statement about Ray’s body and doubted her competitiveness.
In a condescending tone, Miranda told Ray, “You look pretty healthy. I’ve played against girls that look like you. You look very in shape and strong. But it’s a sports mentality when you’re growing up and how much competition that you’ll take on.”
“It’s how competitive you want to be,” Miranda continued. “You grew up one way. I grew up a different way. I would have taken on a man in a heartbeat…. to have a man on my team, I would have welcomed it.”
“Women like me have a different opinion. So how competitive to you think you really are?” Miranda insultingly added.
Ray stood her ground, arguing that women’s sports should be protected, and suggested there should be there should be three categories: male, female and co-ed.
“If you want to compete against men, absolutely, do that in the co-ed section,” she said.

The liberal Democrat state senator is being blasted for her jaw-dropping comments to the young female athlete.
X user Jake Denver suggested, “Ok, someone set it up for Miranda… I want to see how she fairs.”
“Will she change in front of the man too in her locker room?” another person asked.
Several people pointed out that at least Miranda admitted the transgenders ARE men.
Jon Root wrote, “This is one of the most disgusting, condescending things I’ve ever seen from a politician… Shame on you, Senator Miranda.”
In a Fox News interview later, Ray said she was enraged by Miranda’s comments to her.
“In the moment, I was trying to maintain professionalism and be respectful and courteous, but inside, I was fuming,” she said.
