When Elon Musk placed his hand on his heart and then gestured toward an audience of Trump supporters on Inauguration Day, headlines blared as liberals screeched and howled, accusing him of making a Nazi salute.

CNN, PBS, Newsweek and many other liberal media outlets, along with the majority of Democrats, all went wild at the time, accusing Musk of being a Nazi.

But now that Democrat Sen. Cory Booker (NY) has made the exact same gesture at a political event, the left is singing a completely different tune.  The only criticism from the liberal media is now directed at conservatives, for accusing Booker of making a Nazi salute.

Booker made the gesture while speaking at the California Democratic Party’s 2025 State Convention at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calf. on Saturday.

Conservatives have pounced on the moment, and are mocking Booker on social media:

Conservative communicator Steve Guest share a video that features a comparison of both Booker and Musk making the heartfelt gesture toward their audiences.

“Will the media respond the same way to Cory Booker waving to the crowd as they did to Elon Musk waving to the crowd or was it all just performative nonsense when Elon did it?” Guest asked.

Libs of TikTok pointed out a comparison of two Newsweek headlines and declared, “Pure trash propaganda.”

Newsweek when it’s Elon: “8 years after Auschwitz, Elon Musk keeps the fascist salute alive.”

Newsweek when it’s Cory Booker: “MAGA accuses Democratic Senator Cory Booker of doing ‘Nazi Salute’

Elon Musk responded, “Fate loves irony, but hates hypocrisy. Legacy media like Newsweek lie relentlessly.”

Rep. Elise Stefanik wrote, “The mainstream media is totally corrupt. In January, Democrats and the Left were hyperventilating about this false smear of Elon and the stenographers in the media went to work.

“It was the trending news story the morning of my Senate hearing in January and I was asked about @elonmusk’s alleged “Nazi salute.” It was a ridiculous question by @ChrisMurphyCT and I treated it as such.

“The American people are smart. Neither Elon Musk or @CoryBooker are giving the Nazi salute. Americans see thru this obvious and destructive double standard by the totally broken media and Democrat Party.”

Elon Musk replied, “They are such hypocrites.”

#WalkAway founder Brandon Straka also shared the video and wrote:

On the left: Senator Corey Booker giving a heartfelt, patriotic salute.
On the right: Elon Musk personally resurrecting the Third Reich, according to the media.

Same gesture. Different political party. Funny how that works.

Podcast host Alec Lace posted another video which also included Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who made a very similar gesture while he was Kamala Harris’ running mate last year.
