WATCH: Dem governor blasted after announcing fund to pay illegal aliens’ legal fees

After City Comptroller and Democrat mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested for obstruction by ICE agents Tuesday outside a federal immigration court, Democrats in New York flew into a rage.

A large crowd gathered outside to protest Lander’s arrest, including New York governor Kathy Holchul.

Hochul lamented that illegal aliens are being arrested by ICE, and said, unlike Lander, they don’t have access to lawyers. She announced that the state of New York “is providing $50 million to provide legal services for people who find themselves in this situation.”

Hochul is being BLASTED over her announcement.

“NO WE AINT!!!! My hard earned tax dollars will NOT be funding CRIMINALS!” X user Debra Lea declared.

“They already are spending over 7 billion a year on the migrant crisis,” noted journalist Leeroy Johnson of Viral News NYC.

Steve Monas wrote, “So, New Yorkers get taxed to death for congestion pricing, but $50 million goes to migrant lawyers? Priorities are upside down. Maybe it’s time to rethink who we elect. This isn’t governance; it’s a circus.”

Johnson replied, “Pretty much. We pay for everyone. some New Yorkers are barely able to pay their rent.”

Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY) wrote, “Kathy Hochul has spent BILLIONS to provide free housing, clothing, food, education, and healthcare to ILLEGAL immigrants. Now she is spending MILLIONS to pay their legal bills, while charging hardworking New Yorkers thousands just for the privilege of driving to work. FIRE HER!”

“This is bullshit,” Hochul snarled in reaction to Lander’s arrest.

Hochul doubled down in another speech, then posted the video and declared, “I told President Trump I’d work with anyone to make life better for New Yorkers, but that if he challenged our values and our rights, I’d stand up and fight back. That day has come.”
