WATCH: Crockett releases bizarre video to launch Senate race, critics say she ‘really messed up’

Progressive Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas made it official Monday evening, confirming that she is running for U.S. Senate, hoping to flip the seat currently held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn.

Multiple critics are saying Crockett “really messed up” with her first campaign video.

Ahead of an event in Texas Monday evening, Crockett released a bizarre video on X, of a sideview of herself staring off into the distance, while audio plays of President Donald Trump, in which he mocks her as the new “star” of the Democratic Party, and repeatedly calls her a low IQ person.

Crockett then turns to stare into the camera defiantly, crosses her arms and smiles slyly, as the words “CROCKETT for U.S. Senate” flashes onto the screen.

Eric Daugherty of Florida Voice News mocked the video, writing, “JUST IN: US Senate candidate Jasmine Crockett royally SCREWED UP by making her campaign launch video Donald Trump calling her “low IQ” on repeat, while she awkwardly stares into the camera. Trump won Texas by 14 points. Absolute EMBARRASSMENT.”

“Wait, is that real?” asked Paul Sqypula.

“That video won’t win Texas votes,” another X user declared.

“Looks like a mug shot too, lol, turn left, turn right, now face the camera,” another person mocked.

“Is this a parody account? 😆” someone joked.

“Whoever is running against Jasmine Crockett needs to slap their name at the end of that ad and say they approve this message,” one person suggested.

Crockett’s launch video is even being criticized by some who support her. One X user wrote, “The chances of flipping a US senate republican seat in Texas is extremely low and it is not worth the gamble when republicans already control all three branches of government. This is a terrible idea and just leaves your seat open for a Republican to take it during the next election. I hope she wins but I just think this is an extremely risky move with terrible consequences if she loses.”

Crockett then made a big splash by holding an event in Texas Monday evening to announce her campaign. Prior to taking the stage, she had a number of other allies speak in support of her.

A preacher who introduced Crockett wildly compared her to Queen Esther in the Bible who the Lord called to save her people from a planned genocide.

In her announcement speech, Crockett touted that intends to “turn Texas blue.”

Meanwhile, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott posted a “flashback video” and wrote, “In this clip Jasmine Crockett supports reparations. Overwhelming majority of Texans are against this. Crockett may be right for California, but not Texas.”
