From the New York Post: CNN anchor Jake Tapper was ripped by critics Thursday after he wrongly referred to accused DC pipe-bomber Brian Cole Jr. as “a white man.”
Tapper made the cringeworthy gaffe while discussing the arrest of Cole, who is black, during his opening segment on “The Lead.”
His “white man” comment came at 5:01 p.m., around the time CNN was the first outlet to publish a photo of Cole’s face that originated from the suspect’s mother’s Instagram account.
Cole’s father is also black and once enlisted the services of Ben Crump, an attorney best known for his racial discrimination cases.
As Tapper started his program on Thursday, he announced to viewers, “After nearly five years of investigation, the FBI finally announced that they had arrested a suspect, a suspect accused of planting pipe bombs near the Republican and Democratic National Committee headquarters the night before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
“Brian Cole Jr., a 30-year-old White man from the D.C. suburbs, is charged with transporting an explosive device in interstate commerce and with malicious destruction by means of explosion.”
Tapper issued a correction and apologized for the error during his Friday broadcast. However, he isn’t getting off that easy.
Conservatives are torching Tapper over the gross error.
Journalist Nick Sortor blasted Tapper as he shared a video, and wrote, “WTF?! CNN’s Jake Tapper just went out of his way to LIE and call the J6 pipe bomb a “WHITE MAN”. CNN REFUSED to show a picture of the alleged bomber—who is clearly a BLACK MAN—so I overlayed a photo of him on their clip. CNN can’t help themselves but push anti-white rhetoric.”

Podcaster Benny Johnson slammed Tapper, writing, “CNN’s Jake Tapper labels the J6 pipe bomber suspect Brian Cole a “30 year old WHITE man.” You can’t make this stuff up.”
The mockery continues….
