From the New York Post: Chilling video shows the moments a gunman calmly shoots down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson at close range on the streets of Midtown Manhattan.

In the video, the unidentified assailant — clad in a black hoodie, black pants, gloves and wearing a gray backpack — can be seen methodically firing what appears to be a single-action handgun at the CEO, pulling back the slide with each shot.

Thompson stumbles back upon the first shot, which appears to hit him in the back, briefly turning to face the shooter before falling to the sidewalk and attempting to crawl away as the gunman continues firing.

He appears to get three shots off in the video, but the clip ends as he peers down the barrel, seemingly readying the weapon for another shot.

Also seen in the surveillance video footage is a pedestrian who runs away when the shooting begins. The shooter shows no interest in the pedestrian, only going after Thompson in an apparent targeted attack.

The NYPD has released images from the surveillance footage of the suspect, who is still on the run.

Although the man was wearing a mask, additional images released show a better look at the shooter’s face and nose.

Police are seeking help from the public to identify and find the gunman.

Podcast host of The Big Mig shared additional insight on the shooting:

Daring Execution Style Hit CEO Brian Thompson of United Health Care Shot In Night Time Attack:
The firearm in question is not a single-action weapon as the NY Post Describes; it is a semi-automatic pistol. Based on his use of a suppressor, it is highly likely he is employing subsonic ammunition. When using subsonic ammunition, a Nielsen device (commonly referred to as a “booster system”) is essential for the suppressor to function effectively with calibers larger than .22LR. Without a booster, the weapon will not reliably cycle, necessitating manual cycling of the action after each shot.

For a covert operation requiring maximum discretion, subsonic ammunition is critical as it operates at velocities below the speed of sound, reducing noise and eliminating the supersonic crack. However, the lack of a booster system in this scenario indicates a lack of expertise, as a professional would understand the importance of this component to ensure reliable cycling and avoid malfunctions.

Several factors further suggest this individual is not a professional:

Failure to Use a Booster: A critical error for achieving proper functionality with a suppressed, semi-automatic firearm.
Proximity to the Target: His approach and execution suggest inadequate training in CQB (Close Quarters Battle) tactics. Stance, Weaver style position of body and feet during attack, etc
Witness: A professional would not have wanted a witness near by.
Location of the Incident: A well-lit area is a poor choice for a close-range execution, as it increases exposure and reduces control over the environment—an oversight a trained professional would likely avoid.
By contrast, my background includes extensive government contracting experience in 41 countries, where I specialized in CQB tactics, hand-to-hand combat, diplomatic security, overwatch, and facility security for various governments.

If the video footage is enhanced using AI to clarify details, I may be able to assist in identifying the specific hardware used in this incident. My expertise in firearms and suppressor systems, combined with real-world operational experience, positions me to provide valuable insights.
So if any of those X video experts wants to run the video through some enhancement programs lmk.
