WATCH: Canadian politician’s taunt at Trump backfires bigly

As President-elect Donald Trump continues to mock leftist leaders in Canada and suggest that Canada could become the 51st state of the U.S., the liberal politicians are fighting back, but part of the pushback appears to be backfiring.

A video is going viral on social media of Canadian Green Party Leader Elizabeth May taunting that perhaps Canada should just take Washington, Oregon and California.

May, 70, an environmental activist, was born in Connecticut but immigrated to Canada as a teenager. While speaking at a press conference on Friday, Jan. 3, May slammed Trump for suggesting Canada could be the 51st state.

“We do not aspire to be the 51st state … If it was a joke, it was never funny, and it ends now,” she snapped, calling the idea ‘insulting.’

Then May tried to turn the tables, suggesting, “Hey, Donald, have we got a deal for you?! You think we want to be the 51st state huh? But maybe California would like to be the 11th province. How about it? California? Oregon? Washington? We’ve got geography in common.”

Addressing the three US states, May continued, “This is what we’ve got for you… Free healthcare, universal, free healthcare. No more one-year-olds who suddenly fall off the Medicaid list, and their parents are on the news because they’re trying to do a GoFundMe, because they’re trying to get their daughter to a doctor.”

“Safer streets here, we already have strict gun laws, and women have the right to an abortion under the universal healthcare system,” she raved.

But May’s suggestion has backfired, as many on social media are reacting by telling her she can gladly TAKE those three liberal states.

“Canada can have California, Washington & Oregon. I truly don’t think we would have a problem with it. Do you?” Kylie Kremer joked.

‘End Wokeness’ replied, “We should ship them all of our liberals instead and keep our beautiful land.”

Another X user joked, “Tell them they if they take all 3 now, we’ll even throw in NY and IL!”

Others want to throw in Minnesota and New York.

“This is AMAZING! We don’t want CA, OR, or WA! When can we make the deal?” joked Val Biancaniello of PA.

Meanwhile, disgraced Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who just announced this week his intent to resign as soon as a new leader can be found, basted out a statement on social media Tuesday.

“There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from being each other’s biggest trading and security partner,” Trudeau fumed.

Trudeau is also facing massive mockery for his post.

“You resigned. You don’t speak on behalf of Canada anymore. Maybe Epcot Canada will take you. 🤣,” quipped attorney Jenna Ellis.

“Uh oh, Trudeau is mad! What exactly are you going to do? We are having this conversation because you have completely failed as PM, mocked journalist Collin Rugg.
