Fox News senior strategic analyst Gen. Jack Keane, a retired four-star general, warned that the U.S. is on a path toward a potential third world war, a situation not seen since World War II.

This warning comes amid escalating conflicts in the Middle East, Europe, and the Pacific, echoing former President Trump’s concerns about entering “World War III territory.” In an interview with FOX Business’ Stuart Varney, Keane, who recently participated in a congressional commission on national defense, emphasized that the threat of a major war is a serious concern, though he refrains from commenting on candidates’ statements to avoid influencing voters.

A recent commission reported that the U.S. is facing its most serious and challenging threats since 1945, including the risk of a “near-term major war.” The commission highlighted that China and Russia are major powers actively working to undermine the U.S., and noted that the U.S. military currently lacks the capabilities and capacity to effectively deter or win in combat. Gen. Jack Keane also observed a shift in the behavior of U.S. adversaries between the Biden and Trump administrations.

“What has fundamentally changed from one administration to the other is Russia, China, Iran and North Korea working together, collaborating, coordinating, and truly helping each other,” he stressed. “And the fact that they perceive the United States as being weak, and they’re going to take advantage of it, so they have been incentivized by their perception of us.”
