FROM DAILY MAIL: Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales stormed out of an interview after he was asked if he was the sole founder of the free internet encyclopedia.
Wales, who co-founded Wikipedia in 2001 with Larry Sanger, sat down with independent German journalist Tilo Jung in an interview that aired on Friday.
The contentious interview was abruptly ended after Wales introduced himself on the Jung & Naiv web show as the ‘founder of Wikipedia.’
“Founder or co-founder?” Jung asked.
“I don’t care. It’s the dumbest question in the world,” Wales shot back.
Jung asked again about his title, and Wales replied, “There’s no dispute. I don’t care. So, say what you like. It doesn’t matter.”
Jung suggested that Wales should care about the accuracy of his title considering that Wikipedia was founded on the belief in the importance of facts.
Wales found the suggestion laughable, lobbing back that Jung’s argument was flawed as his title wasn’t a fact, but a matter of opinion.
Wales once again stated that it “doesn’t matter.”
“But for you – you’re the founder,” Jung insisted.
“Can I just say again – it doesn’t matter. I’ve answered your question four times. You know what? I’m done. Thank you,” Wales said
“It’s stupid. Don’t ask me stupid questions,” Wales continued as he stormed away, leaving Jung confused.
The clip went viral on social media, with viewers expressing support for both sides in the matter,
