From NBC News: Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said that a protestor in Minneapolis bit a Homeland Security Investigations agent’s finger off following the shooting earlier today.
“About hundreds of protesters then showed up at the scene. They began to obstruct and to assault law enforcement officers,” Noem said at a press conference. “We saw objects being thrown at them, including ice and other objects, and a rampant assault began, and even an HSI officer agent’s finger was bitten off.”
NBC News has not verified that claim. Noem’s allegation comes after DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin wrote on X that a “rioter” in Minneapolis “attacked our law enforcement officer and one of them bit off our HSI officer’s finger.”
McLaughlin said the officer “will lose his finger,” and she included graphic images of a horrific wound.
President Donald J. Trump reposted the McLaughlin’s messages.
