VIDEO: White House discloses who will lead DOGE efforts after Musk’s departure

From Fox News: President Donald Trump and members of his Cabinet will spearhead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) efforts, now that Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is stepping aside from leading the initiative.

“The DOGE leaders are each and every member of the president’s cabinet and the president himself, who is wholeheartedly committed to cutting waste, fraud and abuse from our government,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters Thursday at a White House press briefing.

“The entire Cabinet understands the need to cut government waste, fraud and abuse,” Leavitt said. “And each Cabinet secretary at their respective agencies is committed to that. That’s why they were working hand in hand with Elon Musk. And they’ll continue to work with their respective DOGE employees who have onboarded as political appointees at all of these agencies. So surely the mission of DOGE will continue, and many DOGE employees are now political appointees and employees of our government.”

Since January, Musk has been heading up DOGE, which was tasked with cutting $2 trillion from the federal government’s budget through efforts to slash spending, government programs and the federal workforce.

Musk announced in a post on X Wednesday evening, “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

Trump cabinet members are voicing their appreciation for Musk’s work with DOGE.

Small Business Administration leader Kelly Loeffler wrote, “Of all the things @elonmusk could create, he chose a more efficient, accountable government – and it will be one of his MOST important innovations ever. Thank you, Elon!”

Energy Secretary Chris Wright wrote, “Thank you @elonmusk for helping make @ENERGY more efficient and effective than ever before! We need to be good stewards of American taxpayers hard earned money and @DOGE is instrumental in helping make that happen!”

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum wrote, “America and all of @Interior are incredibly grateful for @elonmusk’s work to make government more efficient and work for the American people. His unwavering service and dedication has cut waste, fraud, and abuse across our federal government and will continue to serve our taxpayers for generations to come. Thank you for your service, Elon!”

National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard announced Wednesday, “It was great hosting @elonmusk at ODNI to discuss how we can best leverage cutting edge technological tools and public-private partnerships to increase innovation and ensure our nation’s security.”

Media advisor Kari Lake posted the following statement:

Thank you, @elonmusk, for putting your life on hold to help reduce waste in our federal government. Thank you for setting up an incredible Office of @DOGE with amazing patriots working night and day.

I can honestly say, while we will miss your leadership, the way you have set-up the DOGE team, they will accomplish great things that result in the rightsizing of the out-of-control federal bureaucracy.

I have had more people than I can count tell me to “Doge the sh*t out of Washington, DC.” The people want the bureaucracy tamed. Big government is out. Small Government is in.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) wrote, “Thank you, @elonmusk. By the way— Special Government Employees are limited to 130 days of service. There’s no drama with this scheduled departure, so don’t believe media hysteria. We’re working with the White House to make @DOGE cuts permanent.”

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) declared, “Elon Musk is a total baller. Man’s got tiger blood.”

DMLNewsApp and TeamDML.com founder Dennis Michael Lynch weighed in, writing in a Facebook post, “The media wants you to believe Elon and Trump are at war, they’re not. By law, Elon can only work for Trump’s administration for 130 days. Tomorrow is day 130. Don’t believe the media.”

Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany paid tribute to Musk in her commentary Thursday.
