From Fox News: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz baffled the internet on Tuesday when he accidentally declared he has “become friends with school shooters” during the CBS News Vice Presidential Debate against Sen. JD Vance.

The poorly timed mishap occurred when Walz was asked about changing positions on banning assault weapons, which he previously opposed but now supports.

“I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I’ve become friends with school shooters. I’ve seen it,” Walz said.

While Walz presumably meant he has become friendly with parents who lost children during horrific school shootings, the internet was sent into a tizzy.

Former President Donald Trump caught the gaffe, and wrote in a Truth Social post, “Walz made a very big mistake on Gun Shooters. Does anyone think he knows what he said? Will he have a News Conference after the Debate to apologize to the parents and others who were so horribly hurt?”

Later Trump added in another post, “Why aren’t the after shows talking about the fact that Walz said, “I’m friends with school shooters!””

Andrew Pollock, whose daughter, Meadow, was killed in the Parkland, Florida school shooting in 2018, wrote, “My daughter was killed in the Parkland school shooting. It’s absolutely abhorrent that Tim Walz has befriended school shooters. Disqualifying.”

George Behizy wrote, “BREAKING: Tim Walz just lost the race with one sentence. “I’ve become friends with school shooters.” WHAT???”

The backlash continues:
