From GB News: Prime Minister Keir Starmer has doubled down on his willingness to put “boots on the ground” in Ukraine as part of a comprehensive four-point plan to support the war-torn nation.

Speaking at a press conference, the Prime Minister emphasized that “Europe must do the heavy lifting” in supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Starmer said: “Let me be clear, we agree with Trump on the urgent need for a durable peace. Now we need to deliver together.”

The Prime Minister’s comments come as he outlined a strategy aimed at securing a “just and enduring peace” for Ukraine.

Starmer held the press conference after hosting an emergency summit of European leaders, along with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, at Lancaster House in London.

Starmer announced the four decisions reached by the European leaders at the summit:

“First, we will keep the military aid flowing, and keep increasing the economic pressure on Russia.

“Second, we agree that any lasting peace must ensure Ukraine’s sovereignty and security and Ukraine must be at the table.

“Third, in the event of a peace deal, we will keep boosting Ukraine’s own defense capability, to deter any future invasion.

“Fouth, we will go further to develop a coalition of the willing to defend a deal in Ukraine and to guarantee the peace. Not every nation will feel able to contribute but that can’t mean that we sit back. Instead, those willing will intensify planning now with real urgency.

“The U.K. is prepared to back this with boots on the ground and planes in the air, together with others, Europe must do the heavily lifting. But to support peace in our continent, and to succeed, this effort must have strong U.S. backing.”

Starmer also reportedly announced a new $2.7 billion loan for Ukraine, backed by frozen Russian assets, and $2 billion in export financing to help Kyiv purchase air defense missiles.

From The Washington Post: Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, both of whom also met with Trump last week, were working to shape a diplomatic cleanup of U.S.-Ukrainian relations, Starmer said. The two and “possibly one or two others” would act as mediators between Washington and Kyiv, seeking a ceasefire plan acceptable to Ukraine and Europe that they could present to Trump.

Zelenskyy touted all the support he has received from the European leaders, posting photos from the summit. He wrote:

The summit in London was dedicated to Ukraine and our shared European future. We feel strong support for Ukraine, for our people – both soldiers and civilians, and our independence. Together, we are working in Europe to establish a solid foundation for cooperation with the United States in pursuit of true peace and guaranteed security.

Europe’s unity is at an exceptionally high level, one that has not been seen in a long time. We are discussing with our partners security guarantees and the conditions for a just peace for Ukraine. A series of important meetings and decisions are being prepared for the near future.

I am grateful to all our friends and partners for their efforts in bringing about a stable and guaranteed peace in Ukraine. Joint strength can protect our future.

Zelenskyy then flew by helicopter to meet with King Charles III:
