From Fox News: Former President Donald Trump met with the president of Ukraine at Trump Tower in New York City on Friday, saying he has a “very good relationship” with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“It’s very important to share our plan, all of our steps on how we can strengthen Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said. He explained to reporters that he decided to meet with both Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris because “after November, we don’t know who Americans [will decide to] be the president.”
Speaking with Fox News after the meeting, Trump said, “We both want to see this end and we both want to see a fair deal made. And it’s got to be fair. And I think that’ll happen at the right time. I think it’s going to happen.”
Neither Trump nor Zelenskyy publicly explained details of a potential deal.
On Thursday, Zelenskyy held meetings with Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and members of both the House and Senate. He reportedly requested the meeting with Trump as well.
Prior to their meeting at Trump Tower Friday morning, Trump and Zelenskyy spoke briefly to reporters.

After their meeting, Trump and Zelenskyy again spoke to reporters. One reporter asked Trump if he had changed his thoughts on how the war should end.
Trump replied, “Well, “I learned a lot, but I think I haven’t changed from the standpoint that we both want to see this end and we both want to see a fair deal made. It’s got to be fair and I think that will happen at the right time.”
“If I win, we’re going to have a very fair, and rapid, deal,” Trump added.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump wrote afterwards, “Just had a great meeting with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. If I’m elected President, the war with Russia and Ukraine will end quickly. If not, that war will never end, and will phase into WORLD WAR III. Comrade Harris will NEVER BE ABLE TO END THE WAR, and hasn’t. Nothing will change except THE DEATH AND DESTRUCTION WILL ONLY GET WORSE! MAGA2024.”
Zelenskyy also released a statement, writing on X: “I had a very productive meeting with @realDonaldTrump. I presented him our Victory Plan, and we thoroughly reviewed the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the war for our people. Many details were discussed. I am grateful for this meeting. A just peace is needed. We share the common view that the war in Ukraine must be stopped. Putin cannot win. Ukrainians must prevail.”
