From Fox News: President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday night in the Oval Office withdrawing the U.S. from the World Health Organization (WHO).
“That’s a big one,” Trump said just before signing the order. “So we paid $500 million to World Health when I was here, and I terminated it.”
But former President Biden reversed Trump’s initial attempt to withdraw from WHO on his first day in office in 2021.
Trump said China has 1.4 billion people, and the US has an estimated 325 million people. However, China has only been paying $39 million into the WHO, while the U.S. was paying $500 million.
“Seemed a little unfair to me,” he said.
Trump noted that when he withdrew the first time, the WHO offered the U.S. to come back for $39 million. However, when Joe Biden rejoined the WHO, he left the U.S. on the hook for $500 million.
