From the Washington Examiner: New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani wants to meet with President Donald Trump soon in Washington, D.C., the president said on Sunday.

“The mayor of New York, I will say, would like to meet with us,” Trump said before returning to the district after visiting his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida over the weekend.

“We’ll work something out,” he continued. “But he would like to come to Washington. We want to see everything work out well for New York.”

Mamdani, a Democrat Socialist, and a Muslim who was born in Uganda, did not even become a U.S. citizen until 2018 – just 7 years ago.

He will be sworn in as mayor of the largest city in America on New Year’s Day, after sweeping to victory by offering New Yorkers a host of free services, such as bus rides, childcare, government-run grocery stores, “affordable” housing, and more. Mamdani has also touted replacing some police with social workers, and taxing the rich to pay for it all.

Mamdani has raged against President Trump throughout his campaign, and has accused Trump of “employing fascist tactics, prosecuting his opponents, weaponizing the federal government, and attacking the very fabric of our democracy.”

He has accused Trump of being an “authoritarian” and a “bully”, blasted the Trump administration for ICE raids, and even wildly blamed Trump for the bomb threats that were made against polling locations in New Jersey.

Trump told reporters prior to heading back to D.C. Sunday night that Mamdani wants to come to the White House to meet with him.
