From Breitbart: Somali migrants are claiming that Minnesota’s economy would crash without them, even as the cost of Somali-run welfare fraud is growing on a weekly basis.
Minnesota has been wracked with a series of massive welfare fraud cases, leaving Democrat governor and failed 2024 vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz reeling. Much of the multibillions in fraud has been perpetrated by Somali migrants, who first began pouring into the state in the 1990s.
However, one state legislator is insisting that Minnesota would not be able to survive without Somalians.
Democrat Minnesota State Sen. Zaynab Mohamed — who was born in Somalia — in a recent interview said, “We are in every industry, and Minnesota would not be able to survive, nor thrive, without the Somali community.”
Mohamed, who was elected to the Minnesota state senate in 2023, claimed that criticism of Somalian immigrants is racist.
She is the sister-in-law of fellow Minnesota State Sen. Omar Fateh (D), who unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Minneapolis in the 2024 election. Fateh has repeatedly blasted American immigration laws and called President Donald Trump an “authoritarian” and a “racist” for seeking to deport illegal aliens.

Earlier this month, Mohamed raged against ICE agents, and declared, “We are witnessing an authoritarian government, ICE agents are invading our state, and we all have an obligation to reject this regime.”
In another post, she referred to ICE agents as “thugs invading our neighborhoods.”
