President Donald Trump cracked up in laughter during a Cabinet meeting this week, when Secretary of State Marco Rubio made a joke about his four jobs.
Now Rubio says he has passed off one of his jobs to Russ Vought, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
In addition to his key role as U.S. Secretary of State, Rubio has been tasked with filling the roles of interim national security adviser, acting administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and acting archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration.
During the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Rubio began, “Mr. President, you were elected as president of working Americans… For me personally, this is the most meaningful Labor Day of my life as someone with four jobs…”
The entire room erupted into laughter, along with President Trump who laughed and said, “That’s true!”

Friday, Rubio announced, “I joked with @POTUS that I had four jobs. He told me to give one to my friend @RussVought47. So I did.”
“Since January, we’ve saved the taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. And with a small set of core programs moved over to the State Department, USAID is officially in close out mode. Russ is now at the helm to oversee the closeout of an agency that long ago went off the rails. Congrats, Russ.”
“Happy to help! Let’s go!” Vought replied.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) wrote, “.@SecRubio has done an incredible job streamlining our federal government and ensuring every dime of taxpayer dollars is used to put America first! I have no doubt @RussVought47 will do a great job as he continues this mission!”

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk reacted, writing, “Dir. Russ Vought is one of the most capable and accomplished steady hands in Washington. Russ is the perfect pick to once and for all close out USAID, which had become a corrupt, woke, and bloated rogue agency. And congrats to Sec. Rubio on having one less job!”

Wade Miller agreed, “I can’t think of anyone more qualified to dissect and wind down USAID than @russvought. USAID has been systematically weaponized against the American people, with tax dollars going towards the censorship industrial complex, or undermining American principles and relationships abroad by exporting woke nonsense to countries that don’t want it. For a variety of reasons, Russ is both a scalpel and a sledgehammer for a program like USAID.”

Meanwhile, Democrats are howling in protest over Trump giving Vaught authority to slash the pork from government funding.
There is no such thing as a legitimate “pocket rescission.” There’s only the law — and President Trump and Russ Vought are breaking it.
