From Fox News: A resurfaced post by Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy discussing the people Democrats “care about most” is sparking social media outrage from conservatives, making the case it points to their priorities in the current fight on Department of Homeland Security funding.
In the clip, posted on Monday night by the conservative influencer account End Wokeness, MSNBC host Chris Hayes asked Murphy in 2024 about negotiations between Democrats and Republicans happening at the time about a border security bill. Hayes pressed Murphy on why Democrats were pushing to get funding for Ukraine instead of pushing for a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, as the party had done in the past.
“Well, I mean, Chris, that’s been a failed play for 20 years,” Murphy replied. “So you are right that that has been the Democratic strategy for 30 years, maybe, and it has failed to deliver for the people we care about most, the undocumented Americans that are in this country.”
“He actually said that,” wrote End Wokeness, sharing the video from two years ago.
The newly-surfaced video has prompted fresh outrage from conservatives.
Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), wrote, “”This has absolutely proven to be true and never more than this week. Senate Democrats have allowed 260,000 American workers to be used as political pawns so that they could protect criminal aliens that invaded our nation. Sick stuff.”

Newsmax host Gerry Callahan wrote, “Credit to the slimiest man in the US Senate. It was an accident, of course, but he told the truth for once. This explains EVERYTHING Dems in DC are doing right now.”
“Literally just play this until the midterms,” Braeden Sorbo suggested.
Rep. Tony Wied wrote, “There it is. If their actions didn’t make it clear enough, a sitting Democrat senator just said it out loud: they care more about illegal aliens than American citizens. Disgraceful.”
Rep. Brad Knott (R-NC) wrote, “The motivations behind the Democrats’ united effort to shut down @DHSgov start to clarify when the truth slips out.”
Republican strategist Mehek Cooke also reacted to the video, writing, “Chris Murphy has been a Senator for 12 years. His constituents can’t afford rent. Hartford is one of the poorest cities in the US. Veterans are sleeping on the streets. And he just told you why. His words not mine.”
Former Trump campaign official Tim Murtaugh wrote, “If Chris Murphy were an enemy agent, he wouldn’t behave any differently from how he does now.”
“And this guy is going to run for President…,” warned former White House press secretary and Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer.
On X user pointed to previously remarks by Sen. Chuck Schumer, who claimed in September 2024, “The only way we’re going to have a great future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants – the dreamers and, all of them! Our ultimate goal is to help the dreamers, but get a path to citizenship for all 11 million or however many undocumented there are here.”
