In a recent interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” Louis Prevost, the older brother of Pope Leo XIV, shared insights into the new pontiff’s anticipated approach to leading the Catholic Church.
Prevost emphasized that his brother is neither “woke” nor aligned with any extreme political ideology. He described Pope Leo as someone who evaluates issues from multiple perspectives and seeks a balanced, centrist path that avoids unnecessary controversy.
Louis Prevost talked about his brother’s deep understanding of canon law and theology, suggesting that Pope Leo XIV is committed to upholding the Church’s doctrines. While he may not reverse reforms introduced by Pope Francis, he is expected to maintain the Church’s traditions without pushing it toward more liberal or conservative extremes. Prevost believes that his brother’s leadership will focus on continuity and moderation.
Reflecting on their upbringing, Louis noted that Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, was never overtly political. He recalled that his brother was always thoughtful and measured, traits that have continued into his ecclesiastical career. Louis acknowledged that while Pope Leo may hold more progressive views than he does, these differences are rooted in their individual roles and experiences within and outside the Church.
Despite recent controversies surrounding Louis Prevost’s own social media activity, which included posts critical of certain political figures, he expressed confidence in his brother’s ability to lead the Church effectively. He suggested that Pope Leo XIV’s centrist approach would help unify the Church’s diverse global congregation and navigate contemporary challenges with wisdom and compassion. As Pope Leo XIV begins his papacy, his brother’s remarks offer a glimpse into the values and leadership style he may bring to the Vatican.
