Social media is abuzz over an awkward snag that occurred as President Donald Trump was being sworn into office on Saturday.
Trump was sworn into office without placing his left hand on the two Bibles, as he had intended to do. Here is why…
Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office for Trump. However, Roberts was in such a hurry that he started the oath too quickly, without waiting for Trump’s family to step forward beside him.
“Please raise your right hand and repeat after me…” Roberts began, jumping right into the ceremony.
Melania Trump, who was holding two Bibles, a Trump family Bible and the Lincoln Bible, quickly stepped forward, and his children scrambled to come forward as well, as Roberts speedily proceeded with the ceremony.
By then, Trump was distracted by raising his right hand and repeating the oath, and therefore, did not place his left hand on the Bibles as he had planned to do.

The awkward moment has created quit a stir on social media, as liberals have piled on with criticism.
“His freaking left hand didn’t even touch the bible(s). INTENTIONAL❓” one critic raged.
“No hand on the Bible. A disgrace already,” another person fumed.
“Evangelicals wondering why he didn’t put his hand on the Bible right?” another asked.
“Where’s Trump’s hand? Why isn’t it on top of the Bible?” asked another.
Former Trump attorney Jenna Ellis attempted to calm the hysteria, explaining, “Don’t listen to the clickbait. Nothing in the Constitution requires placement of a President’s hand on the Bible—Article II Sec 1.8 just requires taking the oath.
“It is tradition and good practice, but if you watch how rushed the oath ceremony was, the First Lady and the family were still getting into place when CJ Roberts began the oath.
“This appeared to simply be an oversight, and not intentional. Trump loves all the traditions and history of the presidency (I’ve had many personal conversations with him about that). Don’t make a big deal where one isn’t.”

“Before anyone gets in an uproar about President Trump’s hand not being on the Bibles he brought to the ceremony… Note that Justice Roberts started the swearing in before DJT’s family got up there and before Melania even got there with the Bibles!” another user, Sheri Liberty, explained.
