From the New York Post: The lunatic accused of randomly shoving a Big Apple straphanger onto Manhattan subway tracks Tuesday afternoon was charged with attempted murder, cops said.

Kamel Hawkins, 23, was also charged with second-degree assault after he allegedly pushed a complete stranger onto the tracks at the 18th Street station shortly after 1:30 p.m., according to police.

The terrifying ordeal, which was captured on chilling video footage obtained by The Post, showed the hooded brute roaming the edge of the platform while the victim appeared to be looking at his phone as the train pulled into the station.

Without warning, the suspect pushed the man onto the tracks, with the unsuspecting straphanger disappearing under the train.

Miraculously, the 45-year-old man survived after being pushed onto the tracks and struck by the train. He was rushed to the hospital where he was reported to be in critical, but stable condition with a head injury.

One law enforcement officer said, “By God’s own hand, he fell perfectly in the trench.”

Hawkins fled the station after pushing the man onto the tracks, but was caught later and arrested.

Hawkins already has an established criminal record, including assaulting a police officer and slamming him to the ground in June 2019. In a 2020 incident, he was released without bail, despite prosecutors asking he be held. And an Oct. 12 assault and weapons possession case in Brooklyn is still open.

Below is video footage of the moment the attack occurred.

Firefighters are then seen coming to the victim’s aid.  A woman is heard yelling, “He alive!”
