From CBS News: Former Rep. Liz Cheney, a Republican who has been a staunch critic of former President Donald Trump, said she will vote for Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
“I don’t believe that we have the luxury of writing in candidates’ names, particularly in swing states,” Cheney, who represented Wyoming, said Wednesday at Duke University. “As a conservative, as someone who believes in and cares about the Constitution, I have thought deeply about this. And because of the danger that Donald Trump poses, not only am I not voting for Donald Trump, but I will be voting for Kamala Harris.”
Cheney, who served on the congressional committee that investigated the Capitol riot, said in January that Trump should be disqualified from the ballot for his actions related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack.
A video was shared on social media of Cheney’s remarks on Wednesday, as she announced she is voting for Harris.

The Trump campaign quickly fired back with a video of Cheney bashing Harris four years ago, after Joe Biden selected her as his running mate.
“In one fell swoop her, he has put somebody on the ticket whose voting record in the Senate is to the left of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren,” Cheney said in the 2020 Fox News interview.
“The American people are going to look at the substance of this. They’re going to look at what she’s stood for in the past. They’re going to look at what she said during the primary election. It’s very clear, she is a radical liberal,” Cheney said.
Fast-forward four years: Now Cheney says she’s voting for that “radical liberal” for President of the United States.

Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s 2024 running mate, reacted to Cheney endorsing Harris while speaking at a Turning Point USA event.
He said: “The next presidency of Donald Trump will make sure people like Liz Cheney are laughed out of the Oval Office instead of rewarded. This is a person whose entire career has been about sending other peoples’ children off to fight and die for her military conflicts and her ridiculous ideas that somehow we were going to turn Afghanistan… into a thriving liberal democracy and for that, Liz Cheney was willing to kill thousands of your children — Kamala Harris and Liz Cheney make very, very interesting partners. They get rich when America’s sons and daughters go off to die. They get rich when America loses wars instead of winning wars. They get rich when America gets weaker in the world.”

In January, Cheney fumed over Trump’s candidacy, and declared in an interview on Face The Nation, “we need to be able to defeat him at the ballot box.”
