From Fox News: A local Chicago resident blasted Democrat leaders in the city as President Donald Trump considers federal intervention to clean up rampant crime that has plagued the windy city.
Sam Sanchez, owner of the local restaurant and late-night club Moe’s Cantina, Third Coast Hospitality Group, and a member of the Illinois Restaurant Association, told Fox he has “been a Democrat for so many years,” and that “this is not what Chicago used to be.”
“The city is not safe,” Sanchez told Fox News Digital in an interview. “For the mayor and the governor to go on TV and use us as statistics, as numbers, I mean, we’re human beings, we’re talking about real time.”
“What’s happening right now, real time, the mom who lost a five-year-old child doesn’t care how many murders were done ten years ago, what we care about right now,” Sanchez added.
Sanchez slammed Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker for laws he has signed that places limitations on police and amounts to “weak prosecution” of criminals.
“We’re tired of the crime. We want law and order,” Sanchez declared, adding, “If President Trump could help us prosecute these violent repeat offenders, any gun crime should be prosecuted by the federal government.”

However, Sanchez says he disagrees with Trump sending the National Guard. Instead, he has another suggestion:
Without mobilizing the National Guard, the Trump administration demonstrated it could help reduce crime in Chicago through federal law enforcement initiatives such as Operation Legend, which deployed FBI, ATF, DEA, and U.S. Marshals to target violent offenders.
All gun cases should be federal” would mean:
• Every illegal possession → prosecuted in federal court instead of state court.
• That would put cases under federal sentencing guidelines, which are often much harsher.
• Pretrial release would follow federal standards (no cash bail, stricter detention rules).

In another post, Sanchez added:
I strongly disagree with sending the National Guard into the City of Chicago. Dr. Wilson knows they won’t be stationed in the South or West sides where children are being shot. Instead, they’ll be deployed in tourist and business districts—nothing more than photo opportunities.
This move will disrupt businesses; in D.C. we saw a 50% reduction in sales.
What we need is not military optics—we need increased federal prosecutions and stronger federal law enforcement. Bring back Operation Legend.

President Trump ripped into Pritzker in a Truth Social post on Thursday, writing, “Governor Pritzker had 6 murders in Chicago this weekend. 20 people were shot. But he doesn’t want to ask me for help. Can this be possible? The people are desperate for me to STOP THE CRIME, something the Democrats aren’t capable of doing. STAY TUNED!!! President DJT”
