From Fox News: Vice President Kamala Harris took aim at Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida on Monday for reportedly not taking her calls regarding federal storm relief efforts as a second powerful hurricane bears down on Florida.
“People are in desperate need of support right now and playing political games at this moment in these crisis situations…is just utterly irresponsible, and it is selfish,” Harris charged on Monday. “It is about political gamesmanship, instead of doing the job that you took an oath to do, which is to put the people first.”
The vice president’s comments came a couple of hours after reports from NBC and later ABC News that the Florida governor was not taking calls from Harris regarding storm recovery efforts, citing unnamed aides to the governor who said the calls seemed political in nature.

DeSantis was asked by reporters about claims that he ignored a phone call from Kamala Harris, and he made it clear that he hadn’t received any phone call from her.
He clarified that he had spoken recently with Joe Biden about hurricane relief efforts and had been granted everything he had asked for.
With regards to Harris, he said, “I didn’t know that she had called. I’m not sure who they called. They didn’t call me, and their characterization of it was something they did. It wasn’t anything that anybody in my office did, in terms of saying it was political.”
Another reporter then tried to ask DeSantis a political question, which didn’t go over well at all with the governor.
“This is not a time for politics. You and your publication will twist anything that’s done to try to make a political agenda. That’s how you get your clicks,” DeSantis scolded.

Monday night, during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, DeSantis again confirmed that Harris never called him.
“For Kamala Harris to try to say that my sole focus on the people of Florida is somehow selfish is delusional,” DeSantis declared. “She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for 3 1/2 years. I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts.”
“Has she ever called before?” Hannity asked.
“No, she has no role in this process!” DeSantis said again. “I’m in contact with the president of the United States. I’m in contact with the FEMA director. I’m managing all our state agencies…. I’ve had storms under both President Trump and President Biden, and I’ve worked well with both of them. She’s the first one who’s trying to politicize the storm, and she’s doing that just because of her campaign.”
“I don’t have time for political games,” he declared angrily, adding, “She is being selfish trying to blunder into this when we’re working just fine!”
Hannity: “Has (Kamala Harris) ever called before?”
