Fox News correspondent Steve Hilton confirmed during a discussion with host Brian Kilmeade on Thursday that he is considering running for governor of California.

Californians will vote in the November 2026 election for a new governor, as current Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, cannot run for another term. Newsom was first elected in November 2018, and can only serve two 4-year consecutive terms.

Hilton, 55, was born in England.  His parents immigrated there from Hungary in 1956.   He served as the director of strategy for the UK prime minister David Cameron from 2010 to 2012.

Hilton later legally immigrated to the United States, and became a U.S. citizen in May 2021.  He and his wife live in Malibu, California. He endorsed Donald Trump in the 2016 election, and has remained a staunch supporter of Trump.

On Thursday, Hilton blasted the woke policies in California that has led to so many problems in the state.

“We need massive change in California. Every single thing has been mismanaged. The incompetence is off the charts!” he declared.

“Yes, I am strongly considering running for California Governor – we need massive change in California, everything has been totally mismanaged and we have this far left ideology making it impossible to get anything done. Time for common sense and competence!” Hilton wrote.
