From the New York Post:The Federal Emergency Management Agency supervisor accused of telling staff to skip hurricane-ravaged homes that had Trump campaign signs claims it wasn’t an “isolated” incident — and that she’s been hung out to dry.
Marn’i Washington, who was fired last week over the saga, broke her silence in an interview with YouTube podcaster Roland Martin Monday, arguing she had just been following FEMA protocol.

“FEMA preaches avoidance first, and then de-escalation. This is not isolated. This is a colossal event of avoidance,” Washington, 39, said.
Washington claimed there are incident reports proving some residents had shown “political hostility” to FEMA workers in the area, and said her supervisor had approved the message that she sent out.
According to the report, about 20 homes displaying Trump signs or flags were skipped over by FEMA workers between late October and early November, denying those residents the chance to sign up for federal disaster relief assistance after the hurricane struck.
The Daily Wire first reported on the shocking incident, and shared a screenshot of the memo sent to employees by Washington, which includes the following orders:
- No one goes anywhere alone
- Avoid homes advertising Trump
- Practice de-escalation and preventative measures
- Communicate and follow the rules

WATCH BELOW, as Washington declares she has just been used as a scapegoat and states that what she did was actually common practice at FEMA:
DMLNewsApp founder Dennis Michael Lynch posted a screenshot of two different headlines by the New York Times.
On Oct. 4, the New York Post headline reads: “Trumps False Claims About the Federal Response to Hurricane Helene.”
“The former president falsely accused the Biden administration of spending disaster funding on migrants, neglecting areas that had voted for Republicans…” the times claimed.
Then, ironically, a headline on November 9 reads, “FEMA Fires Employee for Telling Milton Relief Workers to Skip Houses with Trump Signs.”
