From Breitbart: Billionaire Elon Musk is not actually paying $45 million a month to help former President Donald Trump, saying media reports were “not true.”
Speaking with conservative commentator Jordan Peterson this week, Musk said that what has been reported about his donation pledge is simply “not true.”
“What’s been reported in the media is simply not true,” Musk said. “I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump.”
The report of the alleged $45 million-per-month donation came from the Wall Street Journal on July 16, who cited unnamed sources. The WSJ wrote:
Elon Musk has said he plans to commit around $45 million a month to a new super political-action committee backing former President Donald Trump’s presidential run, according to people familiar with the matter.
Other backers of the group, called America PAC, include Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, the Winklevoss twins, former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe Craft, who is chief executive of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners.
Formed in June, America PAC is focused on registering voters and persuading constituents to vote early and request mail-in ballots in swing states, according to one of the people. The coalition assessed that the Democrats have historically had very robust “get out the vote” campaigns and took note of the amounts of money that the Biden camp has dedicated to what are called on-the-ground efforts in swing states. America PAC will try to counter that.
Musk had responded the same day of the report with a comical meme captioned “fake gnus.”

Breitbart notes that Musk did create the America PAC super PAC. However, it is uncertain exactly how much money he has contributed to the organization. Bloomberg reported that Musk has donated a “sizeable amount” to America PAC, which he has not denied.
Below are Musk’s comments on the matter:

He created a Super PAC focused on supporting candidates who favor a meritocracy and personal freedom, but funding to date has been far below that. pic.twitter.com/RQEsJkHVfZ

Musk did also fully confirm his endorsement for Trump immediately after the July 13 assassination attempt against the former president.

In a social media post Tuesday evening, Musk wrote, “Yeah, it’s ridiculous. I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom. Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.”
