From Fox News: Billionaire Elon Musk says he hopes the U.S. and Europe can develop their economic relationship toward eliminating the need for tariffs.

Musk made the statement during a video interview with Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini on Saturday. The billionaire says he has advised President Donald Trump to bolster the relationship with European countries.

“At the end of the day, I hope it’s agreed that both Europe and the United States should move ideally, in my view, to a zero-tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America,” Musk said.

“If people wish to work in Europe or wish to work in North America, they should be allowed to do so in my view,” Musk said, adding that this “has certainly been my advice to the president.”

“And also more freedom of people to move between Europe and North America, if they wish,” Musk also said.

Musk’s comments are receiving mixed reviews and a dose of skepticism.  Some are even asking if the video is real or AI-generated.

Jon Tarr, a Navy veteran, wrote, “I like the guy, but we don’t need totally open free trade zone. That’s old-fashioned level open market and free trade for everything I prefer protectionism sufficient to protect American industry.”

“With appropriate controls to ensure that the USA preserves its own capacity to provide its medicine, medical equipment, steel, and critical manufacturing base to have full employment first – American First,” wrote Bret Weingart.

Another X user, Paige, wrote, “Trade yes, become like them, NO. Allow them all to move freely throughout our country? NO America is America. Europe will have to figure out their own Islamic deliverance.”
