President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted a black tie dinner at the White House Tuesday night, in honor of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who arrived for a meeting with the president and his team earlier on Tuesday.
Bin Salman announced during an Oval Office meeting with President Trump that Saudi Arabia will be investing nearly $1 trillion into U.S. ventures over the next year. The investments will reportedly be spread across the US economy, including artificial intelligence and rare earth materials.
Saudi Arabia has also agreed to buy F-35 stealth jets from the United States.
The Saudi Crown Prince was welcomed to the White House with a rare and elaborate ceremony, including amounted honor guard, a military band and a flyover Tuesday morning.
The pomp and circumstance continued when Bin Salman returned to the White House Tuesday night for the dinner:
The dinner Tuesday night was held in the East Room of the White House, and included many high-profile guests, including multi-billionaire Elon Musk, the world’s richest person. It was Musk’s first time back to the White House since he left his role at DOGE at the end of May, and then had a massive falling-out with Trump soon after.
Trump and Musk later appeared to begin patching up their broken friendship when they met together while attending a memorial service for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk in September.

In what appears to be an intentional gesture, Musk was seated near the doorway where the President and First Lady made their entrance with the Crown Prince for the black tie dinner.
Trump is seen briefly reaching out to acknowledge Musk, who nods his head, as they enter the room.
Other guests at the dinner included President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance, Donald Trump Jr., Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).
Other high-profile guests included Apple CEO Tim Cook; Michael Dell, the chief executive of Dell; Jensen Huang, the chief executive of the A.I. chip maker Nvidia;
Lisa Su, chief executive of AMD, the major computer chips company; David Ellison, CEO of Paramount Global; Mike Wirth, CEO of Chevron; Jane Fraser, CEO of Citi; Stephen A. Schwarzman, CEO and co-founder of Blackstone; Brendan Bechtel, CEO of Bechtel, one of the largest construction companies in the US; Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, the largest U.S. automaker; William Clay Ford Jr., CEO of Ford Motor; Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the most famous soccer players in the world; Gianni Infantino, the head of FIFA, international soccer’s governing body; and many others.
“Tonight, I’m pleased to announce that we’re taking our military cooperation to even greater heights by formally designating Saudi Arabia as a major non-NATO ally,” President Trump announced during his remarks at the dinner.
