From the Daily Caller: Democratic Maryland Sen. Chris Van Hollen confirmed Sunday that his trip to El Salvador to try to secure the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a deported illegal immigrant with alleged ties to MS-13, was funded by U.S. taxpayer dollars.
Van Hollen made the admission during an interview on Fox News Sunday with Shannon Bream.
“Who did pay for this trip?” Bream asked.
“Uh, this was an officially cleared, you know, congressional trip, cleared on a bipartisan basis,” Van Hollen stammered.
“So, taxpayer dollars,” Bream said, helping him out.
“Yes, like every other trip,” he grudgingly admitted.

Border Czar Tom Homan ripped Van Hollen to shreds in a scathing rebuke.
“A U.S. senator traveled to El Salvador on taxpayers’ dime to meet with a MS-13 gang member … How many Angel Moms and Dads has he met in the state of Maryland?” he asked.
“Van Hollen never went to the border the last four years under Joe Biden when there was a 600% increase in sex trafficking of women and children. There was a record number of suspected terrorists crossing that border,” Homan declared.
