VIDEO: DC home receives dozens of packages meant for hotel, including chainsaw

From NBC Washington: Night and day for more than six months, a D.C. family has received over 100 packages the senders meant to have delivered to a hotel more than a mile away.

The family has received a nonstop array of items, they said in an interview only on News4.

“We’ve received everything from cat food to vitamin supplements to even a chainsaw,” said Brittany, who asked to only give her first name. “Luckily, that guest came to pick it up, but we did not ask questions. Nor did we answer the door.”

Brittany said she believes guests at the Arlo are entering the hotel’s address when they order from Amazon and then inadvertently clicking her address, which appears before the hotel’s address in the option list. There’s only a one-letter difference between the addresses.

Brittany said people come knocking at their door at all hours, including late at night, to retrieve their packages.

Especially disturbing is why a hotel guest would be ordering a chainsaw. She said when the guest came to pick up the chainsaw, they did not ask any questions, or even answer the door. They just let the person take it from the porch.

Amazon said they are looking into the matter.
