VIDEO: Campus riots reignite after pro-Hamas mob seizes control of building at elite NY school

From Fox News: More protests broke out on Thursday at New York City’s Barnard College after a group of more than 50 anti-Israel agitators took over a building on campus the day before.

The NYPD made several arrests after the protests reignited, with around 100 anti-Israel demonstrators gathering in front of the entrance to Barnard, once again wearing masks and keffiyehs and chanting, “Free Palestine.”

Tension rose and became more chaotic as protesters marched from Barnard to CUNY’s City College campus, to protest outside Gov. Kathy Hochul’s event at CUNY, which was canceled due to the anticipated protest.

The protesters were heard chanting criticisms of Hochul and “NYPD KKK,” and tried to breach police barricades and get close to officers’ faces.

X user Jews Fight Back shared a copy of a letter the pro-Hamas protesters had released with their demands, and explained:

Barnard College is currently being held hostage by a mob of entitled lunatics who think their obsession with destroying Israel gives them the right to shut down education and seize control of campus buildings

They are literally protesting the expulsion of students who disrupted classes with antisemitic propaganda—by disrupting more classes with antisemitic propaganda. Expel them all, @BarnardCollege.

Eyal Yakoby posted a disturbing account from an anonymous student, and explained, “A student revealed that a Columbia professor canceled their classes to allow students to violently take over a campus building. The professor encouraged the students to go and “support” the students who assaulted a Barnard staff member, sending them to the hospital.”

Dr. Nicole Saphier voiced her disgust, writing, “Pro-Hamas protesters took over Barnard College and assaulted an employee—sending them to the hospital. These students need to be expelled, prosecuted and deported if they are here on a visa. The U.S. should have ZERO tolerance for pro terroristic hate.”

X user The Urban Warrior posted a video of arrests being made and wrote, “Another arrest today at the pro-Hamas rally at CUNY. In this video, students aggressively chant in support of an intifada, with the crowd echoing “Allahu Akbar.” Their blatant disregard for the police and property, along with their open support for Hamas—who they see as “legitimate resistance”—is completely out of control. Even more disgusting is the support they receive from the administration, certain faculty members, and the excessive leniency from police, allowing so-called “free speech” to escalate into harassment and incitement of violence.”

The Urban Warrior shared another disturbing video and wrote, “Protests erupted across the city today—on campuses, in the streets—everywhere. But this time, something felt different. The usual crowd of overprivileged, virtue-signaling agitators was joined by a more concerning presence: hard-core Islamist extremists openly advocating for the destruction of Israel, the eradication of Jews from so-called “Muslim lands,” and the severing of U.S.-Israel relations.

“This goes beyond free speech—it feels like sedition. How long before these calls for violence turn into action?”

The Urban Warrior shared a serious warning: “Tonight, I stood alone as the only Zionist documenting a pro-Hamas protest at CUNY that erupted into a riot against the police. What started as chants of “Allahu Akbar” quickly escalated into violence, lawlessness, and total anarchy.

“As I filmed, radical jihadis swarmed me, screaming in my face, trying to silence and intimidate me. The police lost control. Only two arrests were made—when at least 20 more should have happened.

“This is what’s happening on American college campuses. Our institutions have become breeding grounds for terror sympathizers. This isn’t a protest—it’s an uprising against law and order. WAKE UP, AMERICA. The enemy is here.”

NYC Mayor Eric Adams released a statement, saying, “As mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, the pain the protests held at Barnard College is causing to our Jewish community is not lost on me. I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, any protest that calls for an “intifada revolution.””

However, Adams then appeared to appease the protesters, as he wrote, “I know the conflict in the Middle East has left many of us grieving and angry, and while New Yorkers have every right to express their sorrow, that heartbreak does not give anyone the right to harass or threaten others, to physically harm anyone, or to trespass on private property.”

He stopped short of calling for any consequences.

House Speaker Mike Johnson declared, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Pro-Hamas mobs have NO place on our college campuses. Barnard College & Columbia University must put an end to the antisemitic chaos on campus.”
