From Fox News: President Biden on Monday evening during his DNC speech spotlighted a debunked claim that former President Donald Trump spoke favorably of neo-Nazis in 2017 following the Charlottesville “Unite the Right” rally.

“We’re in a battle for the very soul of America. I ran for president in 2020 because of what I saw in Charlottesville in August of 2017. Extremists coming out of the woods carrying torches, their veins bulging from their necks, carrying Nazi swastikas and chanting the same exact antisemitic bile that was heard in Germany in the early ’30s,” Biden said just after 10:30 CT on Monday night.

“When the president was asked what he thought had happened, Donald Trump said, and I quote, ‘There are very fine people on both sides.’ My God, that’s what he said. That is what he said and what he meant. That’s when I realized … I could not stay on the sidelines. So I ran,” Biden continued, citing the debunked claim about Trump.

Biden has repeatedly and emphatically cited the riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, for spewing “antisemitic bile” and claiming Trump spoke favorably of neo-Nazis.

Despite that Biden’s tale has been debunked and proven false by many outlets, including by Snopes, Biden continues repeating the lie.  He did it again at the DNC Monday night:

The “fact check” website, Snopes, which is actually left-leaning, called out Biden for the lie in a report in June.  “No, Trump Did Not Call Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists ‘Very Fine People,'” Snopes wrote.

Here’s what President Trump REALLY said at the Aug. 15, 2017 press conference at Trump Tower about the Charlottesville protest:

The Trump team had demanded in June that Biden stop repeating the lie.

Biden is being blasted once again for repeating the lie about Trump.

Trump advisor Stephen Miller wrote, “Biden leaning fully into the Charlottesville Hoax at the convention — the most debunked, disproven and discredited hoax in existence — deliberately stirring up hatred weeks after the attempted assassination, is beyond vile. It’s psychotic. It’s their pretext for authoritarianism.”

Conservative commentator Katie Pavlich pointed out, “Biden bringing up Charlottesville while ignoring the thousands of Hamas Nazis right outside the very place he is speaking.”

Podcaster Clay Travis wrote, “The Charlottesville lie, the suckers and losers lie, the bloodbath lie, the dictator lie. This may be the most dishonest speech Joe Biden has given in his presidency. Which is, sadly, really saying something.”

Ironically, in the very same speech Monday night, Biden had his own “both sides” moment, when he literally voiced support for the pro-Hamas, anti-Israel protesters right outside the convention center.  More details in the report below:
