From the New York Post: At least 16 people were injured when a roof collapsed “in the blink of an eye” during a massive bash near the University of Pittsburgh Friday, according to harrowing video and reports.
Footage circulating on social media shows the moment several green-clad revelers packed on an awning plummet when it crumples under their feet — and on top of even more partiers on the porch below.
One person standing under the collapsed roof made it out uninjured and lamented about the harsh end to the festivities.
“It just fell,” Carlton Gbur told CBS, adding, “Everyone was having fun, and then no one was having fun.”
Sixteen students were taken to area hospitals suffering from a range of injuries, with three in serious condition, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Another group of young people were seen perched atop the roof of a porch on the house next door, but that one didn’t collapse.
KDKA reporter Ricky Sayer posted a video on X of the moment the roof collapsed.
“We spoke with the Pitt student who took this video. She told us she was just trying to capture how much fun everyone was having,” he explained in another post.
