VICTORY: Red state wins ‘landmark’ $24 billion judgment against China in COVID lawsuit

From Fox News: A federal judge on Friday ruled in favor of Missouri in the state’s $24 billion lawsuit against China’s Communist Party that accused it of hoarding protective supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is a landmark victory for Missouri and the United States in the fight to hold China accountable for unleashing COVID-19 on the world,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey said in a statement.

“China refused to show up to court, but that doesn’t mean they get away with causing untold suffering and economic devastation. We intend to collect every penny by seizing Chinese-owned assets, including Missouri farmland.”

Bailey’s office said the judgment was six times larger than the previous largest judgment in the state’s history.

Missouri had filed the lawsuit against the following entities: The People’s Republic of China, the Communist Party of China, the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, the People’s Government of Hubei Province, the People’s Government of Wuhan City, the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Siding with the State of Missouri, Judge Stephen Limbaugh wrote in his ruling on Friday that the “Court finds that Missouri has provided evidence satisfactory to the Court to establish each Defendant’s liability to Missouri under Count IV of Plaintiff’s Complaint. The Court therefore enters a judgment against Defendants, jointly and severally, in the amount of $24,488,825,457.00, plus postjudgment interest.”

The lawsuit was originally filed by former Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who now serves in the U.S. Senate.

Schmitt celebrated the ruling, writing on X, “When I was AG in Missouri I sued China for unleashing Covid on the world. My successor & friend @AGAndrewBailey continued the work & today the court awarded Missouri $24+ Billion in damages. Missouri can now seize assets. Just call us the Show Me (the money) state.”

Fearlessly, AG Bailey declared in a post on X after the ruling, “Hey China, You owe Missouri $24 BILLION. I just won a judgment in court. Pay up — or we start seizing assets and farmland.”

In a longer statement on X, Bailey wrote:

BREAKING: Today, Missouri secured a $24 BILLION judgment against the Chinese Communist Party in a historic COVID lawsuit. This ruling is 6x larger than the biggest court judgment in Missouri’s history. Missouri is leading the fight.

This lawsuit, first filed by @Eric_Schmitt, was about justice for every Missourian whose life, business, and livelihood were devastated by China’s lies. Missouri stood up to fight for our people.

The judgment sends a clear message: The CCP is not above the law. Their deception and cover-up cost lives — and they must pay.

I intend to collect every dollar, including Chinese domestic assets— wherever we can find them.

Missouri is leading the fight to hold China accountable — and we won’t back down.
