President-elect Donald Trump has released a statement, after FBI Director Chris Wray announced Wednesday that he will resign.

Trump has nominated Kash Patel as the next FBI Director.

Wray, who was appointed by Trump in 2017 and is 7 years into his 10-year term, is resigning, in order to avoid b being fired by Trump.

Wray announced Wednesday that he will resign in January 2025, by the end of Joe Biden’s term.

In a statement posted on Truth Social Wednesday afternoon, Trump wrote:

The resignation of Christopher Wray is a great day for America as it will end the Weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice. I just don’t know what happened to him.

We will now restore the Rule of Law for all Americans. Under the leadership of Christopher Wray, the FBI illegally raided my home, without cause, worked diligently on illegally impeaching and indicting me, and has done everything else to interfere with the success and future of America. They have used their vast powers to threaten and destroy many innocent Americans, some of which will never be able to recover from what has been done to them.

Kash Patel is the most qualified Nominee to lead the FBI in the Agency’s History, and is committed to helping ensure that Law, Order, and Justice will be brought back to our Country again, and soon.

As everyone knows, I have great respect for the rank-and-file of the FBI, and they have great respect for me. They want to see these changes every bit as much as I do but, more importantly, the American People are demanding a strong, but fair, System of Justice. We want our FBI back, and that will now happen.

I look forward to Kash Patel’s confirmation, so that the process of Making the FBI Great Again can begin. Thank you!

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), who wrote a letter demanding Wray step down, also cheered the news.

“Reports FBI Dir Wray is resigning after my letter on Monday outlining his failures. Reform is badly needed at FBI American ppl deserve TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY,” Gassley wrote.

House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) provided a list:

Chris Wray’s FBI:

-Censored Americans
-Labeled pro-life Catholics as extremists
-Spied on your private finances
-Spied on Congressional members and staff
-Retaliated against whistleblowers

Americans deserve better.

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Tex.) wrote, “BREAKING: FBI Director Chris Wray Is Doing the ONE Thing He Told Judiciary He Wouldn’t—RESIGNING! Meanwhile, my office is STILL waiting for answers about the encrypted apps Thomas Crooks used before he SHOT President Trump.”

Sen. Marsha Blackburn commented, “Christopher Wray’s resignation is one step closer towards the end of two tiers of justice. President @realDonaldTrump and @Kash_Patel are going to restore justice in our nation.”

“Goodbye Wray, Hello Kash,” quipped DMLNewsApp and TeamDML.com founder Dennis Michael Lynch.

Real Clear Investigations journalist Julie Kelly wrote:

Chris Wray’s legacy will be turning the world’s most powerful law enforcement agency into a domestic terror operation that includes raiding the home of the former president, entrapping individuals into politically-oriented hoaxes like Whitmer fednapping, colluding with Big Tech to protect the Biden crime family by censoring Americans, and using the FBI counterterrorism task force to investigate, raid, and arrest nearly 1,600 Americans who protested the 2020 election on January 6.

His failures include record crime, a bleeding southern border, out of control fentanyl crisis, and historic low trust in the FBI.

Seems impossible but the worst FBI director in US history. The damage he caused this country may never be fully repaired.

Mollie Hemingway of The Federalist wrote, “Christopher Wray stepping down after seven horrific years of FBI corruption. Not necessarily worse than Comey or J. Edgar Hoover, but a continuation of their abuses of rule of law. He defiantly enabled and supported the politicized leadership of the bureau.”

Meanwhile, Attorney General Merrick Garland, who will also be out the door when Trump takes office, released a statement giving a glowing report on Wray’s performance as FBI director.
