Speculation is rising about a flagpole attached to the back of the white pickup truck used to commit a deadly massacre in the French Quarter of New Orleans early Wednesday morning.

The truck was intentionally driven at a high rate of speed straight into the large crowd of people who were celebrating New Year’s.  At least 10 were killed, and another 35 are reportedly hospitalized with injuries.  The driver, a man dressed in military fatigues, was killed in a shootout with police.

In photos and video footage from the scene, a flagpole is seen attacked to the back of the truck, and what appears to be a gray jacket has been placed over the top of the pole, presumedly to cover up a possible flag on the pole.

Social media users are demanding to know what kind of a flag is being covered up by the jacket.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is one of those demanding answers.

“Photo of truck driven through the crowd of innocent people in New Orleans. Texas plates. Release his name. Now. What is on the flag pole on the back of the truck? Looks like they may have covered up a flag or what is it? The truth needs to come out asap,” Greene wrote.

Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser said in a news interview that a reporter stated that he had heard rumors that there was an ISIS flag on the back of the truck.

This has not yet been confirmed, but the FBI has announced they are investigating the attack as an “act of terrorism.”

POLICE HAVE FOUND THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK – NEW UPDATE FROM THE DAILY MAIL:

The FBI is looking into whether the man who drove a truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers n New Orleans’ French Quarter, killing 10, has connections to ISIS.

The Ford electric vehicle was owned by a 42-year-old man from Houston, Texas, and had crossed the US-Mexico border just two days ago.

The truck had been rented out on Turo, and police are in contact with the owner who listed it for rent.

“New Orleans attacker was flying a flag from the truck, but police at the scene intentionally covered it up. What was that flag?” another X user demanded.

Authorities have confirmed that the pickup truck used to commit the horrific massacre was seen crossing the border from Mexico at Eagle Pass, Texas on November 16.  (It was first reported that the truck crossed the border two days ago.)  The pickup has a Texas license plate.

Fox News just reported that authorities have stated that the person who drove the truck across the border in November does not appear to be the same person who used it drive into the crowd on Bourbon Street.

Greene has continued to voice her fury, writing in another post, “New Orleans terrorist attacker is said to have come across the border in Eagle Pass TWO DAYS AGO!!! Shut the border down!!! Who did our government bomb lately that is taking it out on innocent Americans?”

A photo has been shared on social media of the driver of the pickup truck, who was shot dead by police. His identity and nationality is still unknown.

“Why did they wrap the flag on the back of the truck? If it had been a Trump flag they wouldn’t have. It would be the prime topic of conversation by the media,” asked podcast host Chad Prather.

One X user, Matt Bracken, commented on the covered flag, and wrote, “If it was a Confederate flag, or a MAGA flag, they would not have covered it.”
