Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris are locked in a razor-thin contest for key swing states that could determine the Electoral College outcome, according to new UMass Lowell / YouGov polls.

In the election’s final stretch, battlegrounds like North Carolina, Michigan, and New Hampshire remain highly competitive as both candidates make their final pitches before Nov. 5. Polls across these states indicate a tight presidential race. With just five days left, both Trump and Harris will address supporters in Nevada on Thursday, adding another critical swing state to their campaign efforts.

Trump leads Harris by two points in a new UMass Lowell/YouGov poll. A majority of respondents favor Trump on handling the economy (49%), the Middle East conflict (48%), and immigration (52%). However, Harris has the edge on abortion (50%) and is viewed as more trustworthy (45%) and likely to uphold the law (46%). Meanwhile, according to this poll, 48% of respondents see Trump as more corrupt than Harris.

Harris leads Trump by 4 points in Michigan, with 49% to Trump’s 45%, per the UMass poll of 600 likely voters conducted Oct. 16-24 with a 4.49% margin of error. Although Harris holds the lead, 66% of respondents believe the country is on the wrong track, a concerning indicator for her campaign. On the economy, Trump slightly edges out Harris, 46% to 45%.

Additional poll findings include: 56% somewhat or strongly disapprove of Biden, 46% believe Trump would best handle Middle East conflicts, 57% favor Harris on abortion, 49% view Harris as more trustworthy, and 52% see Trump as the more corrupt of the two.

The UMass poll shows Harris with a narrow one-point lead over Trump in Pennsylvania, with 48% to Trump’s 47%, within the 3.73-point margin of error. The survey of 800 likely voters, conducted Oct. 16-23, found respondents favor Trump on handling the economy (50% to 44%) and the Israel-Hamas conflict (47% to 39%).

In New Hampshire, Harris leads Trump by seven points, 50% to 43%, according to a UMass poll of 600 likely voters conducted Oct. 16-23 with a 4.38% margin of error. Unlike other polls, 47% of respondents slightly favor Harris on the economy, though Trump leads on the Middle East conflict and immigration (both 44%).
